Dampening and Tempering Systems
Once the product (maize) has been through a destoner the next step is to pass through a dampening screw. The dampening screw is a U-Trough screw conveyor with moisture being added from pipes/nozzles that sit on top of the screw. From the dampening screw, the product will go into a tempering bin to allow moisture to soak into the product fully (this could take between 8 and 12 hours, but is factor dependant).
