1. Will it keep up with my demand?

2. How much will it cost to run?
The inverter-controlled fans, optional hot-air recirculation and automatic dryer control on the Perry Savannah range all help reduce unnecessary energy use and overdrying and can save you up to 34% off your operational drying costs.

3. Does someone need to watch it constantly?
Not with the Perry Savannah Dryer. The dryer PLC can automate dryer operation, while Perry Grain Sentry can measure & automatically adjust drying temperature and discharge speed. Operators can monitor and control the dryer remotely, receive alarms and status updates, and access logged operating data. The PLC provides plain-language alarms and diagnostics, and internet-connected systems can be accessed remotely by Perry engineers for support.

4. Can it handle different crops and batch sizes?
Yes the Perry Savannah range can. Crop settings can adjust operating parameters automatically, and dual-column models can run just one side when full capacity isn’t needed.

5. How consistent is the drying?
The Savannah design of a ledge-free mixed-flow column and tapered ducts promote even airflow and uniform drying.

6. What about dust and fire risk?
The optional extras of the Perry CentriKleens can be used for dust control, and, the Perry patented early fire detection systems are both available for the Savannah dryer range.

7. Will it integrate with the rest of my plant?
Yes. The option of a Perry plant PLC can integrate the dryer with conveyors, elevators, storage, cleaners and wider plant controls.

8. How much space will the dryer take up?
As a Perry Savannah dryer is a vertical tower dryer it has a small footprint helping to save money on expensive civils costs. They can also be installed inside or outside making them a very versatile option.

9. How easy is the dryer to maintain?
Perry design the Savannah range with a grain column completely ledge-free, helping reduce dust and chaff residue. Perry also provides large plenum doors and additional roof-access hatches on larger models to improve access for cleaning.  Optional extra access platforms can be provided to significantly increase the ease of maintenance.

10. Will the dryer be out-dated within 12 months?
This is a very good question. Technology moves fast and we don’t have a crystal ball.  But, the Perry range of dryers are designed with innovation in mind (we have won awards for it!).   We would strongly advise buying your dryer with hot-air recirculation and Grain Sentry to maximise the operational cost-efficiencies, however Grain Sentry can be added at a later date if your budget is restricted.  Centrikleens, fire detection, LGCRS, plant PLC panels can also all be added subsequently.

11. Can one supplier support the whole system?
Perry can provide design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and after-sales support for the wider grain plant, covering all of your drying, storage, handling, cleaning, sorting & control requirements.

Principle Operation

Grain is elevated to the top of the Dryer column and enters the Dryer tower through the reserve section. When in full operation the entire drying column is filled with grain; discharge of dried grain occurs in pre-set intervals through the discharge unit at the base. This results in grain gradually working its way down the drying column, firstly in contact with hot air, then cooling air for the last 25-30% of the column. The discharged grain is then both of the correct moisture content and temperature for immediate long term storage. By adjusting the frequency and duration of the discharge opening the rate of progression through the column can be controlled, along with varying the temperature of the hot air and the level of cooling results in the desired crop moisture reduction rate.

The design of the Dryer is such that the grain column is completely ledge free reducing dust and chaff residue. The tapered design of the air ducts promote even airflow and ensure uniform drying across the whole grain column.

The comprehensive Perry Dryer monitoring system linked to the touch screen control panel means the performance of the Dryer can be closely monitored and controlled either directly at the Dryer or remotely using the mobile phone app. Control can be further enhanced by specifying the dynamic moisture control system, which is an optional extra on all Perry continuous flow Dryers or can be retrofitted to an existing Dryer.

Also, by reducing the Dryer fan speed when drying, energy can be saved.
• Light grain and chaff recovery – the Light Grain & Chaff Recovery System reduces the need to clean out light grains and chaff from the Dryer exhaust plenum. This is an additional option on all new Grain Dryers but can be retrofitted to shutter discharge Dryers.
• Dual column Dryers – these Dryers provide the high capacity of a large Dryer combined with the flexibility of being able to use either half for drying small batches.
